ARE VIDEO GAMES MAKING YOUR KIDS VIOLENT?

guns

Well obviously dipshit, the answer is no. But if you're still not convinced, I've created a website packed full of great games that I'm sure you'll love. Take a look around!

Since Doom and Postal are what I've been playing most recently, this page is primarily dedicated to those. I plan to eventually add some more games here, Red Dead Redemption and Halo, especially. For now though, this is it.

...If you still want to stick around, then have fun browsing.

☠ POSTAL

Postal really needs no intro, but I'll attach a quick one anyways for all you sissies that don't already know. For those who do know, just skip the next paragraph.

Postal (the first one at least, and my personal favorite) was released in 1997 by Running With Scissors. You take on the role of the Postal Dude, carrying out a massacre in his hometown of Paradise, AR. The way he sees it, everyone around him is under mind-control, and they will not hesitate to kill him. The only way to escape this god-forbidden place? Well, to purge anyone who gets in his way, of course.

POSTAL 1997

"Blessed are the meek, for they make easy targets."

Postal 1997 is definitely considered the darker out of the two Postal games I've played. It takes plot more seriously than any of the games that would follow, such as the second one in the franchise. While 2 takes it's pride in satirical, over the top violence and crude humor, 1997 could almost be considered a horror. As you play through, you watch as the dudes sanity starts to crumble... and by the end the story takes a gutwrenching twist.

Now, I will say here that I haven't played Redux and I dont plan to. Something about the original just has a sort of charm that I don't believe could be replicated. Are the controls a bit janky? Oh, absolutely. And don't get me wrong, it took me a solid hour before I really got the hang of it. But that's part of what makes it so unique, and why I had such a fun time playing. Not to mention the haunting art and inner dialogue that meets you after every level... sure it's very 90's-esque, and yet I wouldn't play it any way else.

So to wrap this part up, I would say Postal 1 is a must-play for any fans of classic '90s shooters, especially those who are fans of the franchise. I had a great time playing and I'm sure you would too. (Also just to be noted; this was the first game that I've fully played through, ever. Took me 16 years which is kinda sad, but props to Postal lol.)

POSTAL 2

"Are you gonna sign this, or will it be your surviving family members?"

As I'm still playing through Postal 2, this section has yet to be filled.

FINAL SCORE

A solid five krotchy's out of five.

☠ PS1 DEVILMAN

A charming game that, despite my best efforts, I am unable to play. Still, I just couldn't resist adding it in here. The endearing early 2000s graphics serve as a perfect homage to the original series, letting new players into the strange world of Devilman. Nevertheless, it manages to provide its own unique spin here as well.

PS1 Devilman draws clear inspiration from Silent Hill-type survival games, as many of its time did. You follow Akira and Ryo as they navigate the demon-infested mansion, collecting items along the way and just narrowly escaping monsters. Sure the animations are a bit janky, but taking into account the era and the medium they relied on, they're impressive still.

It's unfortunate that this gem is practically unplayable at this point. The discs for it are essentially nonexistent, and most of the web versions are likely to give you a virus. I personally wouldn't recommend going searching for a playable version. However, if you have information regarding any, please let me know. The guestbook on my homepage is always open.

I think I'll close this part out by linking the soundtrack, because seriously it's such a banger.
